ELITE TRAINING FOR EVERY BASEBALL PLAYER

The beauty of CleanFuego® is you can just throw CleanFuego. It's a simple, quick and effective training tool that helps you with specific pitch training, or helps any player throw clean.

HIDE THE SIDES. When CleanFuego is in flight, the immediate visual cue you want is for neither of the flat sides to be visible. The spin should be clean and without wobble, AND without sacrificing your natural arm slot.

Be smart when using it. Throw into a net, tarp or with a partner.

SIMPLE & EFFECTIVE

  • CleanFuego is a baseball training tool.
  • DO NOT change your arm slot to hide the flat sides when throwing CleanFuego.
  • TO USE, follow your normal warm-up routine.
  • After warm up, start your throwing program by playing catch with a CleanFuego for a few throws.
  • Now, alternate using a standard baseball with your CleanFuego. Do this for as long as you want.
  • Good practicing! Throw Clean. Throw Fuego.

FASTBALL

OVERVIEW
With fastballs, you are trying to put BACKSPIN on the baseball.

What you want to achieve when you throw CleanFuego is for neither of the flat sides to be visible while in flight. Essentially, avoid wobble in flight as it will indicate, among other things, inefficient spin.

STEPS
1. Grip CleanFuego as you would normally hold a 4-seam fastball.
2. Throw CleanFuego with a partner.
3. You want high spin efficiency, while hiding the flat sides of the ball.
4. Avoid wobble.

DO NOT change your arm slot to accomplish clean flight.

TIP:
A variety of things could be causing CleanFuego to wobble or cut. Just keep throwing CleanFuego!

CURVEBALL

OVERVIEW
With curveballs, you're trying to put FRONT SPIN on the baseball.

What you want to achieve when you throw CleanFuego is for neither of the flat sides to be visible while in flight, similar to the fastball but with front spin.

STEPS

1. Grip CleanFuego as you would a 4-seam fastball.

2. Rotate the ball, while still in your grip, so your middle finger runs parallel along the stitch and the seam loop is above your fingertips.

3. When you throw, your wrist should be like a karate chop. Avoid breaking your wrist at the forearm.

4. You want the curveball to DROP, so the spin efficiency on that forward spin is critical to success.

5. Avoid wobble.

CleanFuego WILL NOT curve in flight when thrown correctly.

DO NOT change your arm slot to accomplish clean flight.

We recommend standing CLOSER than the full 60'6" when using CleanFuego to train your curveball.

TIP:
A simple visual to try to mimic when throwing a curveball is to imagine a karate chop or finger guns. Try to throw cleanly, with efficient front spin.

CHANGE-UP

OVERVIEW
With change-ups, you're learning to tunnel a fastball with lower spin direction.

What you want to achieve is for CleanFuego to fly like a UFO. The flat sides should be parallel to the horizon while in flight.

DO NOT worry about wobble when training your change-up with CleanFuego. There will be some wobble. The "flying saucer" spin direction is what you're hoping to accomplish - clockwise for righties.

STEPS

1. Grip CleanFuego as you would a 4-seam fastball, but instead use your middle and ring fingers. You can even grip with your whole hand until you find the grip that's comfortable for you.

2. While still gripping the ball, rotate it so your ring finger rests along the stitch.

3. You want to lower the spin direction.

4. Make it fly like a UFO.

DO NOT change your arm slot to accomplish clean flight.

TIP:

When training your UFO change-up with Fuego, it's more about feel and less about no-wobble. It's very difficult to get no-wobble. So work on the ROLL of Fuego. Discover the feel of it rolling off your ring finger.

Translate those feels to a baseball. Remember, always interchange between a Fuego and baseball when training a new pitch!

SLIDER

OVERVIEW
With sliders, you're learning to throw a baseball like a football, but with the nose pointed up.

What you want to achieve is for neither of the flush sides of CleanFuego to show while in flight.

STEPS

1. Grip CleanFuego as you would a 4-seam fastball.

2. Rotate the ball so your pointer and middle finger rest along the stitch.

3. When you throw, it should feel similar to how you throw a football.

4. The goal is to preset the flat sides of CleanFuego so they are nearly flush to you and your partner. CleanFuego should spin clean, but you'll be able to see those flat sides in flight.

5. If you throw a true Slider, the CleanFuego WILL DROP, so be careful.

DO NOT change your arm slot to accomplish clean flight.

TIP
A slider is a very complicated pitch. If you're having trouble, keep in mind spinning the ball clockwise (right-hand) off the pointer finger. Also imagine your pointer is your power, and your middle (or ring) finger is your shape.
